Our leadership

Christopher Kemp HLK member since 2000 avid sailor and Waterman. Christopher is an Eagle Scout, Captain, and can pretty much fix anything. 

Travis Lee. Family man and father of two. Sailing and member HLK for 28 years. 

A engineer by profession, and a lifelong sailor, rigger, and mechanic.  Treaf works tirelessly to keep HLK boats in good working order and safely maintained.

A lifelong sailor. Started HLK in 1980 with 4 guys, a borrowed sailboat, and a passion for sailing.  Served as youth Sailing instructor LYC, HYC and GBC.  Offshore racing coach at TAMUG and former director of Community Sailing at Sea Star Base Galveston.  Mike holds a USCG 100 Ton Master Credential and is a US Sailing Instructor for basic keelboat, power, and kayak. 

The leader of our affiliate chapter Turning Point Gulf Coast, David is an avid sailor, fisherman and outdoorsman.  David is a sailing instructor and skipper of our affiliate boat, Luna Sea, a 40 foot catamaran kitted out for adaptive cruising.

A lifelong sailor, fisherman and professional mariner. Kevin went to sea at age 16 and you will find him on the water at every opportunity. 

The new guy, 5 kids, too many boats and a love for sailing.  Niles is US Sailing certified in small boat instruction and US Sailing's STEM based REACH middle school education crossover program.

Emily loves small boats. Kevin loves keelboats. Naturally, they compromised by sailing small boats most of the time! 

Emily is a rowing coach, scuba instructor, pilot, and professional hobby collector, currently working on building her sailing skills and adding a U.S. Sailing Instructor certification to her tool belt.

Kevin is always happy to help keep the boats in shape and sneak in some keelboat sailing when he can.

Together, they love being on the water, helping out, and growing the sailing community in Galveston!
